About the Department

This Department is a scientific discipline that services as academic backup resource for the field of clinical chemistry. The department is responsible for the teaching of the first and second-year medical students, postgraduates, as well as the research scientist in this field. 

Description

General biochemistry program: The course includes principles of biochemistry and metabolic pathway in human body.

Method of instruction (Lectures and Practical sessions). 

Clinical biochemistry program: The program includes a general knowledge of the common clinical disorders and the basic principles of laboratory utilization in the diagnosis and management of disease.

Clinical research program: This program includes basic and applied research relevant to the discipline and the profession of Clinical Biochemistry.

Postgraduate Program: The Department conduct postgraduate studies for the degree"ClinicalBiochemist" includes the PhD Clinical Chemist, the M.D.Medical Biochemistry, as well as the Chemical Pathologist. The program includes advanced biochemistry and its relevance to Laboratory Me

MISSION:

Our mission is to offer students of medicine and medical sciences a good standard of skill and knowledge of the common clinical disorders and understand the basic principles of laboratory utilization in the diagnosis and management of disease.

 

OBJECTIVES:

1.     To organize a curriculum which can meet the needs and requirements of  the international medical chemistry standards.

2.     To provide demonstrations and practical experiments in well equipped and high tech laboratories, to be supervised by qualified taughters.

3.     To provide students with practical skills.
