An Art Exhibition Opens at the University of Duhok

Today, Wednesday, April 24, 2024, the Student Center at the University of Duhok inaugurated an art exhibition titled "Sirosh 2," featuring the works of artist and UOD staff member Saman Karim.

Explaining the significance behind the exhibition's name, "Sirosh 2," artist Saman Karim elucidated that "Sirosh" embodies inspiration, serving as a conduit for artistic thought and the artist's chosen mode of expression.

Furthermore, Saman Karim highlighted that the exhibition predominantly showcases abstract art, with each painting encapsulating a distinct concept, predominantly rooted in emotional expression.

Born in 1982 in Amedi, within the region of Duhok, Saman Karim holds a bachelor's degree in architecture from Salahaddin University-Erbil (2005) and a master's degree from Texas Tech University (2012). His artistic journey includes participation in the art exhibition at Salahaddin University-Erbil (2002), hosting a solo exhibition at the same university in 2005, showcasing his work in an art exhibition at Texas Tech University, USA (2012), contributing to the construction of the Monument of Justice at the College of Law, University of Duhok (2013), and presenting the "Srosh 1" exhibition at Duhok Gallery (2019). Additionally, he engaged in the Art and Recycling Workshop in Basra (2022) and participated in the 15th edition of Duhok Gallery (2023). Currently, Saman Karim serves as a lecturer in the College of Engineering at the University of Duhok.
