Announcement for the University of Duhok- Academic Staff
Dec. 19, 2017, 7:55 p.m.

The Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies at the University of Duhok and the Center for Global Affairs at New York University’s School of Professional Studies will implement three intensive peacebuilding courses in 2018, intended to improve the knowledge and teaching capacity of faculty at the University of Duhok and the University of Mosul. The effort is part of the project “Building University Capacity in Peace Education in Duhok and Mosul” which is supported by UNDP and conducted by New York University in partnership with the University of Duhok.

All UoD academic staff are invited to participate in those three courses. However, priority will be placed upon participants from the humanities and social sciences fields of study. Women are particularly encouraged to apply, as gender balance is an important goal of the program. Also, it is essential that the participants know English or Arabic languages. Each of the three courses consists of six days of intensive training, seven hours per day starting from the morning. Five places are available for University of Duhok academics to participate along with 15 academics from University of Mosul. All participants in the courses will be asked to sign an agreement confirming their obligation to attend all three courses (three weeks of attendance over a period of several months). All participants who complete the three-course sequence will receive a certificate of completion from New York University. The courses are:
