The Siemens Student Award addresses ambitious College and University students from the Middle East who want to use their strengths and make a difference.
“How can you build sustainable cities in the desert?” – This is the question participants have to answer for the contest. Ideas should outline solutions to one or more of the following challenges:
§ Ensure a steady, safe supply of drinking water.
§ Provide a reliable source of energy/ electricity.
§ Set up a public health system.
§ Establish an efficient, functioning waste system.
§ Provide transportation for the movement of people and flow of goods.
§ Imagine future homes and create intelligent buildings.
Siemens offers a total prize money of USD 45.000 and various material prizes. The contest is running until the 31st of July 2011. For more information, please visit the contest website.
