The UoD won first place in a review between Iraqi universities across the region for the best Internet site on the World Wide Web in the world rankings (Webometrics), one of the global research laboratories in Spain. The UoD received formal congratulations from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The congratulatory message reads as follows.
“It is with great pleasure that we received the news of the result of the third place achievement of the University of Duhok, in the recent evaluation survey between Iraqi universities according to the scale laboratory Webometrics Ranking of World Universities.”

After our visit to the mentioned Web site shown below, it appeared that the UoD became first among (53) of Iraqi universities and not third as stated, followed by the University of Baghdad in the second place.
Among the Arab countries the UoD took 12th place out of 725 universities, in the Middle East the UoD was 68th out of 1138 universities, in Asia the UoD was 458 among 7292 universities and among 21000 world universities the UoD took the 1717th place. “Webometrics Ranking of World Universities” is an initiative of the laboratory Cybermetrics, a research group affiliated with Research Scientific Research (CSIC), the largest public research institution in Spain.
