A Group of Ayloul Revolution Peshmarga Visit the UoD

2009-12-10

Dr. Asmat M. Khalid, president of UoD, received a group of Ayloul Revolution peshmarga in his office on Thursday December 10th, 2009. The vice presidents of UoD and a number of university instructors attended the meeting as well.

In his speech, Dr. Asmat highly appreciated their honorable role in the revolution showing his happiness of this visit considering it as most honoring one after president Barzani’s visit. He confirmed that their struggle is unforgettable especially those who sacrificed their lives for their country’s sake.

Dr. Asmat said that the establishment of the university itself is a revolution of another kind and it’s the continuity of their struggle as the university with its progress and internationally advanced level is being run by their sons because now is the time of revolution of thoughts, discussions and science.

The president of the university gave a view about the university to the visiting delegation saying that the university has more than 12000 students and 820 instructors with Master and PhD Degrees and there are more than 3000 employees working at the university. Before, we had a concern about lack of teachers in our schools, lack of doctors in our hospitals, now our schools are provided with teachers and our hospitals with doctors even in villages and all those are graduates from the UoD. The university started in a building and now it’s the biggest establishment in the governorate and all this was achieved due to our peshmmarga sacrifices and efforts.

Dr. Asmat finished his speech showing appreciation to this visit and happiness to seeing them.

For his part, Mr. Farouq Akrey, staff member in first branch of KDP, expressed high regards for the university staff, administration and instructors. He said “it is our right to complain when seeing neglect and lack of care, but our complaint should aim at finding solutions and moving forward”.
