An Agreement Signed Between the Colleges of Agriculture at UoD and a Bulgarian University

The College of Agriculture at the UoD signed an agreement with the College of Agriculture at Bulgarian University of Forestry. The agreement, which is the first between the two colleges, is for scientific cooperation and experience exchange and it came in light of Sofia International Conference on Modern Agriculture in November 2009.
Dr. Musleh Mohammad, Dean of the College of Agriculture at UoD, who participated in the conference, said "The agreement provides scientific and cultural cooperation and prepare for joint activities, especially joint projects to request for financial assistance from the organizations affiliated with the European Union for developing Agricultural research".
"This agreement offers opportunities for joint training and instructors exchange in addition to research and joint consultation". Added Dr. Musleh, "We presented special researches on the plantation of cells and plant tissues in this conference; and these researches, among tens of researches around the world, were highly appreciated by the audience”.
The delegation from Duhok presented a clear view about the state of agriculture in the Kurdistan region and the influence of the political and military situation in the past, especially the Anfal operations. This view is of a great importance for developing agriculture in the region with accordance to modern methods to overcome the disastrous effects the agricultural infrastructure of the region has been through.
Dr. Musleh added "In addition to signing the agreement with the Bulgarian university as an outcome for the conference, it provided opportunities to exchange thoughts and opinions on agricultural development with several participants from around the world and we were the only researchers from the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, participating in this conference".
The College of Agriculture, which was the first college established at UoD in 1992, has scientific agreements with the University of Hawaii in the USA, Aleppo University in Syria, ICARDA Organization for Agricultural Research affiliated with the United Nations and the University of Mosul. The college also has five students finishing doctoral studies in the United States, Spain, Australia, Poland and England.
