The First Scientific Agricultural Conference at UoD
The Faculty of Agriculture & Forestry at the University of Duhok (UoD) has announced arranging its first scientific conference at the UoD. This conference will be held from the 10th -12th of April 2012 and it will contain various aspects.
The committee member at the conference, Dr. Raphael Shlaimon, said that “The UoD, in coordination with the Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research as well as the administration of Duhok Governorate, is arranging this conference”. Therefore, researchers from the Kurdistan Region along with other cities of Iraq and abroad will participate. The Faculty of Agriculture & Forestry has begun receiving research papers starting from the 1st of Jan. 2012. The number of those research papers reached 94 from different universities as: Duhok, Salahaddin, Sulaimani, Kirkuk, Mosul, Kufa and Al Anbar in addition to other universities in Egypt, Iran and Pakistan. Dr Shlaimon noted that these researches will be evaluated by a specialist committee until the 1st of March 2012.
Afterward, an announcement for the participated researches will be made. These final researches will be published at the scientific journal of UoD.
Furthermore, eight aspects are basics for this conference, namely: gardens engineering, animals and birds sciences, the forestry and Managing of pasturage and environment, the sicknesses of plants and insects, production and managing the fields’ products, methods of cultivation in addition to tissues planting. In conclusion, Dr. Shlaimon said, “According to the faculty program, such conference will be annually held”.
