An American Institution Supports Important Scientific Research on Wood Industry at the UoD
The representative of the teaching staff at the UoD’s board, Dr. Aree Adel has announced the approval of the Institute of Natural Sciences in the United States to support her scientific research. This research deals with wood industry in Duhok and it is under the supervision of a professor from Michigan State University.
Dr. Adel said “In order to accomplish best results for this research, Dr. Pascal Kamdem- from the Michigan State University, made a visit to the Faculty of Agriculture & Forestry at the UoD from 16-22 of Dec. 2011”. This visit aimed to get acknowledged on the scientific aspects at the UoD as well as the situation in Duhok city. Thus, he visited the farms and the mountains in the city. In addition, he presented some lectures at the Faculty of Agriculture & Forestry.
She added “Conducting a research supported by the Institute of Natural Sciences considers a great accomplishment for the UoD as it is going to have a mutual supervision”. This approval came as a result of the previous trip to the university made on last summer.
Arrangements on the mechanisms and ways of conducting researches were also discussed.
As a conclusion, Dr. Adel commented on the importance of such scientific achievement when Dr. Kamdem referred to the available chances for Duhok city to progress since Kurdistan Region has suitable ground. Therefore, a focus on how to get benefit of the hay and the remains of wheat and sunflowers shall be made as they considered the row material for wood industry that in turn is the basic for furniture making.
