A Delegation from the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil Visits the UoD
On the 23th of Oct. 2011, a delegation from the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil paid a visit to the University of Duhok (UoD). The delegation met with the President of the university, Dr. Asmat M. Khalid, and the Director for International Affairs Office, Prof. Rund Hammoudi. They discussed issues of mutual cooperation and the programs that the university is achieving through the support of the U.S. Consulate General in Erbil and the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.
The President of UoD welcomed the delegation, then he gave an explanation on the developments that the university has witnessed. He talked about the scientific level in addition to the important programs that the university deals with in order to make a change and develop society. Programs are related to peace building and democracy during Saddam Hussein’s regime and after that.
Dr. Khalid also discussed with Mr. Mathew Ference, Public Diplomatic Section Chief at the Consulate, the university willingness to strengthen the relations with the embassy and further the cooperation .Moreover, Mrs. Melinda Crowley, Political Officer at the Consulate, discussed with Prof. Hammoudi ways to enhance future collaboration.
