The 19th Anniversary for the UoD
The University of Duhok (UoD) celebrated its 19th anniversary on the 31st of Oct. 2011. The ceremony was held at the Cultural and Social Center. The President of the UoD, Dr. Asmat M. Khalid, along with UoD’s professors and their families attended.
The UoD’s President emphasized the role that the UoD has achieved since its founding on the 31st of Oct. 1992, taking into consideration that it was started through a decision by the Parliament of the Kurdistan region. In the beginning, it contained two colleges, the College of Medicine and the College of Agriculture.
Dr. Khalid commented on the valuable role that a group of people had made in starting the university. They stood steadfast in facing many obstacles and their endeavors brought success and thriving results. “The biggest thanks go to the KRG’s President, Mr. Masoad Barzani, for his support for the university's establishment”, he added, “The UoD has accomplished a great deal since its foundation".
During the celebrations, a musical interlude was arranged along with a documentary film, showing the stages of the UoD's foundation, in addition to the progress it attained whether within its international relations or the programs that it is implementing.
