The UoD in a Conference on the Importance of Diyarbakir in Islamic History

A number of instructors from the UoD took part in a conference held in Turkey on April 14th 2010. The conference was on the Importance of Diyarbakir in Islamic History.

At the conference the UoD delegation included Dr Muhammed Shukri Ahmed, Assistant Llecturer at the College of Law and Politics, Dr.Farsat,Mari, Lecturer at the College of Education.. The meeting was held in the city of Diyarbakir under the supervision of Dicle University. At the end of discussions, the participants reached some important points such as.

1. The importance of Diyarbakir in terms of its strategic location in the region.
2. The historical importance of Diyarbakir.
3. The importance of Diyarbakir in terms of being a cultural and scientific centre.
   

 

Dr. Shukri spoke about the role of Kurdish scientists, poets and intellectuals in the development of the culture in Diyarbakir, stressing the significant role of the Kurds, in this governorate including protection throughout history.
