The UoD Starts the Teaching Quality Assurance Program

 The Directorate of Quality Assurance at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Erbil held a meeting in Khani Hall at the UoD on April 8th, 2010. The meeting, which was attended by a number of university instructors, resulted in starting the Program of Teaching Quality Assurance at the UoD.

 Miss. Shilier Ahmed, Manager of the Directorate of Quality Assurance at the UoD, said “the aim of this program is to develop scientific levels in the universities of the Kurdistan Region by evaluating university instructors, students and curricula”. She added “We came up with new approaches for carrying out this scheme; one is the evaluation of instructors by students and vice versa. It was decided to distribute questionnaires among the UoD’s students  for the appraisal process and to diagnose and find  solutions to any weak points ”.

In order to carry out the project successfully, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research sent a number of specialists to universities abroad to attend an introductory course and to participate in workshops dealing with this venture. It’s worth mentioning here that many universities around the world have adopted this program, where recent results show good growth and development in this system.
