- Teaching of community medicine to the 3 rd year medical students. The curriculum in the 3 rd year includes the following: introduction to public health, nutrition and health, and health statistics. The course will enable students to gain basic knowledge and skills in public health, nutrition, and application of statistical methods in health sciences .
- Teaching of community medicine to 4 th year medical students. The aim is to enable them to appreciate the concept and relevance of the following subjects in the practice of medicine at individual and community levels : ( General epidemiology , Prevention and control of communicable diseases , Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and injuries, Maternal and child health , Occupational health , Health administration and sociology , Environmental health , Primary health care).
- Conduct and organize teaching of family medicine. Since there is no separate curriculum or department of family medicine in the college, the department will be nursing the activities of family medicine conducted in the college including:
a. Conducting and supervising training in family medicine to 4 th year students.
b. Participating in teaching primary health care (PHC) by the pediatrics department to 6 th year medical students.
c. Housing family medicine specialists anticipated to join the college in the future until a separate department is established. - Supervising post-graduate studies in community medicine.
- Conducting researches in collaboration with other departments, as well as with the directorate of health.
- Sharing to raise the health standards of the population through active participation with health departments and other NGOs.
