About the Department
During the period 1996-2001, the College offered under-graduate curricula, leading to the Bachelor of Science in Irrigation & Drainage Engineering. After 2001, the name of the department was changed; the college now offers a Bachelor of Science in Water Resources Engineering. The curricula were changed to meet both the current and emerging needs of industry. The program includes lectures and laboratory work giving an overall knowledge of basic principles and essential details regarding water resources development. The students also study other subjects which are the same as the civil engineers, general aspects of planning, investigation, design & construction.
Description
The department is concerned with introducing the students to the various steps of development of Water Resources Engineering. In the advanced stages, the curricula goes in depth to provide the students with the knowledge and experience enablling them to master and control these curricula , helping them to become experts in their specialty. The study system starts mid September every academic year according the University calendar and concludes by the end of June. During the length of this system students must sitseasonal and final exams in every class. The department provides opportunities for students in multi-disciplinary research and study based on major disciplines to broaden their understanding of production.
Objectives
Water and Resource Engineering undertakes the practical aspects of analysis and design of engineering structures in the planning and management of water resource systems. The department provides an extensive study program in the application of modern techniques in order to identify the relationship between water resource systems and the environment. In common with civil engineers water resources engineering students also study general aspects of planning investigation, design, and construction.
