The School of Engineering at UoD has a national reputation in the science of Engineering and is committed to educating students for lifelong success in the diverse world of business. Our graduates may be engaged in planning, development, services, project management at all its financial and administration aspects, teaching and information technology. Our School offers an undergraduate degree in four different fields of engineering- Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Water Resources Engineering and Electrical and Computer Engineering. We also offer a Master of Science Degree in Structural Engineering, Soil and Foundation Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Sanitary Engineering.

The School of engineering officially opened its doors in 1994 with 40 students and 6 full time faculty members and has kept growing ever since. During this time, the School was able to build a distinguished reputation by committing to higher standards of education. The educational environment is designed to meet the student's needs and to provide them with professional skills that are required for becoming a successful engineer. Employing modern teaching methods, updated research laboratories and computer facilities were the great factors in achieving these goals. The ultimate goal of our college is to provide and practice orientated education for our students and create future focused engineering minds with vision.

The School of Engineers is engaged in planning, development, maintenance, services, work management, administration, financial management, and teaching and information technology. The educational environment is tailored to meet the needs of students and provide them with a variety of professional skills. The college employs modern teaching methods and research laboratories and computing facilities to train students to look ahead and meet the needs of the future.

Architectural engineering focuses on the design and construction of safe, efficient, aesthetic and economical buildings.

Civil engineering provides the proper infrastructure for daily life while minimizing the environmental impact of any new scheme.

Resources engineering meet both current and emerging needs of industry to provide an overall understanding of the basic principles and essential details applicable to the development of water resources.

Electrical and computer engineering, combines computers and electrical technology in managing hardware and software in communications, electronics, and computers.

Since participation in the reconstruction and re-evolution of our beloved homeland is a great moral responsibility, the University of Dohuk accepted the challenge and decided to open the College of Engineering. After completing a four-year undergraduate engineering program, a Bachelor degree is granted in Civil and Water Resources Engineering. In 2000, a Master of Science program in Engineering Structures, Engineering Soil & Foundation, Engineering Transportation and Engineering Sanitation were offered for the first time.

This year the University reorganized and increased the depth of its programmatic offering to match the needs of industry. Architectural Department was established in the college in 2004. The continued and ever expanding needs to build, renovate and maintain the construction infrastructure have been the main driving force behind the Establishment of this Department.

The School can be distinguished from the other college by its specialization which might be considered the base for any development in the field of Engineering.

The School provides students with a wide-range comprehension about Engineering; practical applications are more satisfactory in this School and this requires a great deal of work. Consequently, the prior point of view of the School is how to develop the Engineering sector in the Kurdistan region Having been based on modern styles of education is one of the main characteristics that distinguish this college from others. The curricula stress mainly on the most updated information and practical applications being

There is a good connection between the theoretical and practical courses given in the School and the application of the subject in  actual life as they fulfill the needs of any individual for being a specialist in a certain field.

Once the students have graduated, it is expected that they will be able to offer scientific services based on the academic and practical knowledge they havegained during their years of studying

The college is expected to offer services to the society through the students who graduate from its departments. The courses and the curricula fulfill most of the requirements of actual life and society needs in term of proficiency. These courses and curricula are subjected to improvement periodically according to the actual needs of the region.

There is a constant cooperation exchange between the School and other Schools by supervision on high education researches and study courses besides dealing with externalr examiners to dispute high educated student thesis.

The School has relationships with many different parts through scientific fields. The School of Engineering improves research programs by seeking to increase public and private support for the college. This support creates new opportunities for faculty, staff and students to innovate and pursue excellence in research by developing and sustaining critical partnerships, also giving opportunities for attending conferences at different places will help to improve the qualifications of faculty staff for developing at local sectors.

The continuous participation in different types of engineering works successfully is considered a high activity besides representing the useful seminars and entertaining  lecturers  from inside and outside the Region.
