DepartmentsThe college offers a bachelors degree according to specialization for undergraduate study.
The college of Commerce is one of the colleges which has a great role in supporting the Economy especially in the business sector. The college was opened due to the strong need for updated knowledge in Business and Commerce sciences in the era of globalization, following the fast developments seen in the world today. This college provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to make use of accounting, administrative and economical work and private and governmental sectors which require graduate students with developed skills to serve and develop the basic elements of Economics.
Consequently, the college supports business commerce in the Kurdistan region. The College of Commerce was established in 2008 ,and is an extension from one of the scientific departments in the college of Administration and Economics. It is within the college's plan to provide its graduates with necessary skills through the four years of studyi to be able to work in the commercial sectors ,like banking and business's of different specializations.
Since the opening of the college, it has been engaged in development, maintenance, services, and information technology. The educational environment is tailored to meet the needs of students ,providing them with a variety of professional skills. The college employs modern teaching methods ,research and computing facilities to train students to look ahead and meet the needs of the future. The College of Commerce has its own different studying formula in addition to the subjects which focus on the preparation for commercial studies. The college is distinguished also by having studies in the field of specializations, which lie within the general aim of the college , performed by academic staff
The strategy of college is to produce primary and higher scientific graduates in the fields of Commerce. The college conveys a message of serving society ,and taking part in solving some particular issues.
The college undertakes the following strategies.
- Following scientific courses and supporting theoretical and practical sides by ensuring that qualified teaching staff have acsess to modern scientific references, in addition to the college's efforts to expand and develop its scientific levels.
- Graduation of a specialized staff who will complete the strategic plans of the college in research and academic fields.
- First ,activation of research fields by expanding its branches to include all specialties which serve the college in the context of International research development , and for the service of research activity that aims at promoting the community second.
The college aims at providing students with a broad theoretical applied background and development. It attempts to meet the educational needs of its students by creating a learning environment and strengthening student's commitments to education. The college provides high quality and reasonable programs of study that lead to a comprehensive education,preparing individuals for future careers. At the college we strive to concentrate on the academic and educational connection through technology and modern methods updating the curricula through preparation and application of modern styles and scientific methods.
The students gain experience and knowledge through academic approaches in the various areas of specialization ,gaining practical skills and experience by writing their reserach projects. During their four years of studying, the students acquire most of their knowledge and experience from the theoretical and practical lessons given by talented staff.
The college can be distinguished from the other colleges by its specialization, which might be considered the base for any development in the field of Business and Commerce. The college provides students with a wide-range comprehension about the practical applications, which require a great deal of work. Consequently, the prior point of view of the college is how to develop the commercial sector in the Kurdistan region.
There are good connections between the theoretical and practical courses given in the college ,and the application of the subject in regards to actual daily life . Once the students graduate, it is expected that they will be able to offer scientific services based on the academic and practical knowledge they have gained during their four years of study. The courses and the curricula fulfill most of the requirements society needs in terms of proficiency. Courses and curricula are subjected to improvement periodically according to the needs of the region.
There is a constant cooperation exchange between the college and other colleges by supervision on high education researches and study courses, besides dealing with external examiners. The college has relationships with many different parties through scientific fields. Concerning cultural relationships, the college has relationships with cultural centers such as the Cultural and Social Center at UoD and also with the civilian population.
The College of Commerce improves research programs by seeking to increase public and private support for the college. This support creates new opportunities for faculty, staff and students to innovate and pursue excellence in research by developing and sustaining critical partnerships. Also giving opportunities for attending conferences at different locations, will help to improve the qualifications of faculty staff for development at local sectors.
Activities - Some of the teaching staff members have started research projects in their specialties. - The college prepares for workshops and seminars - Also by participating in sport activities - Training and developing programs.
