Departments
At the College of Basic Education we offer a B.Ed. according to specialization for undergraduate study.
The College of Basic Education established in 2003, began as the Department of Teachers at the College of Arts in 2002.
The college develops the concept of education by introducing advanced teaching methods and publishing modern educational approaches, using information and experience gathered through co-operation with educational and cultural establishments in Iraqi Kurdistan. Solutions to local educational problems are being realized, and new generations of educators are being created
The college also provides technical consultation for its individual specializations .
The purpose of each department is to prepare students to be qualified teachers for Primary and Intermediate schools.
Also, the college provides students with teaching fundamentals in addition to psychological and educational subjects that are taught in each department.
- The college established in 2003, consists of five departments.
- College instructors have participated in scientific and educational conferences which were held in Iraqi Kurdistan and abroad.
- The college has always been fully supported in its scientific and educational mission, and like other university institutions has seen considerable investment over the years in order to ensure that it carries out its tasks and responsibilities competently.
- At the college one concern was improving the level of teachers in the Kurdistan Region. We are now able, to see that these aspirations are well on their way to being fulfilled. Therefore, the college could be, considered as one of the continuous outcomes achieved by the Government of the Kurdistan Region.
Since the opening of the college, it has been engaged in development, maintenance, services, and information technology.
The educational environment is tailored to meet the needs of students, providing them with a variety of professional skills.
The college employs modern teaching methods, and has research and computing facilities to train students to look ahead and meet the needs of the future.
College strategy contains the following:
- Graduation of cadres that enables them to serve society effectively by following the established scientific courses and supporting the theoretical and practical sides.
Securing modern scientific references, in addition to the college’s efforts for expanding and developing its scientific laboratories.
The training of students on the practical side, and converting studying to a palpable fact serving and a completing theoretical side. - Activation of research fields and expanding its branches to include all specialties which serve college purposes by putting the college in the context of international research development firstly and secondly for the service of research activity that aims at promoting the community
The objectives of the college are to provide students with a broad theoretical and applied background, and development.
The college attempts to meet the educational needs of its students in Iraqi Kurdistan by facilitating a learning environment and strengthening student's commitment to education.
Students gain experience and knowledge in the various areas of specialization.
They acquire practical skills through training in regional establishments in addition to the experience of writing their researches projects.
The college can be distinguished from other colleges by its variety of specializations which are considered the base for any development of the country.
The college is also open to other specializations, such as participating in strategic planning
The College has a good connection with everyday life, as it fulfills the aim of any desired design the people request. Once the students have graduated, it is expected that they will be able to offer the scientific services based on the academic and practical knowledge they have gained during their four years of study. The college is expected to offer services to the society through the students who graduate from its departments.
There are good relationships between the college and other colleges, the private sector and governmental directorates, by offering continuous educating courses.
Here at the college, we have a good support exchange with other colleges, by supervising high education researches, and with External Examiners in debating higher educated student thesis.
Concerning cultural relationships, the college has many relationships with cultural centres such as the Cultural and Social centre, which is part of the University of Duhok.
- Some of the teaching staff members have started research projects in their specialties.
- Preparation of workshops and seminars.
- Participation in the sport activities
