Athletic Directorate
The Athletics Directorate (previously Athletics Unit) was established on November 1, 1995.
The Directorate holds annual intercollegiate Football, Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis and Chess championships for students of University of Duhok and also Duhok Technical Institute.
In addition to that, it hosts many external championships for both the Kurdistan region and Iraq as well as carrying out many athletics activities like agility and body fitness trainings.
Moreover, halls are allocated for agility and body fitness within the newly opened Cultural and Social Center.
The University teams have won many championships at regional and Iraq level.
The university Basketball team , for example, won the Iraqi universities championship (northern area) for four successive years and came the second in the Iraq championship held for the whole universities of Iraq. Also, other teams have gained advanced ranks.
